Sofía Batres (b. 2005)
is a Peruvian-Guatemalan interdisciplinary artist based in NYC. Rooted in production design, film, and grassroots organizing, her work explores ever-shifting definitions of home. Drawing from Third-World feminist thinkers like Gloria Anzaldúa, Cherríe Moraga, and Audre Lorde, she engages with the concept of Nepantla—the in-between space of existing in two worlds at once.

Through mixed-media narratives incorporating paint, archival footage, textiles, and found objects, Sofia envisions decolonial futures where multiple worlds can coexist. Her work resists singular histories, challenging Western narratives of progress that have erased, displaced, and commodified our people’s stories.

She is available for work and commission.
